Reiki healing is an ancient and profoundly simple system of ‘laying on of hands’ healing derived from Tibetan Buddhism. The living body, human or animal, radiates energy. This energy is the life force itself, and has as many names as there are human civilisations. The Japanese word ‘Reiki’ consists of two words – ‘rei’ meaning ‘universal energy’ and ‘ki’ meaning ‘life energy’. Everything alive contains ‘Ki’ and radiates it. It is the bio magnetic energy of the aura. The vibrational healing practice of Reiki promotes a deep level of relaxation and healing. Reiki balances the recipient on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level using a non-invasive gentle, hands-on technique. This life energy force is the energy all around us and it enlivens us. In Reiki healing, the practitioner channels this universal life energy to break up energy blockages within the body and trigger the body’s natural healing abilities to improve and maintain health.
How does Reiki Healing work?
Reiki treats the physical body, but because our emotional, mental and spiritual levels are all related, this treatment affects us holistically. Reiki can do this because every cell in our body contains our body’s entire blueprint. This DNA is also a stencil of that cell’s optimum level of functioning. Reiki works by flowing through this stencil to restore the cell to balance and harmony. Reiki energy goes exactly where it is needed, releasing and clearing blocked energy, and cleansing the body of toxins to return the body to a state of natural balance.
What to expect in a Reiki session
A Reiki session will take 60 minutes but you may have a longer session if you wish. You will lie on a massage table fully clothed with soft music playing in the background. I will start at your head and move down your body front and back, sometimes you may not even feel my hands on your body. You may drift in and out of consciousness, it doesn’t matter if you fall asleep or if you want to talk during a session. The power of Reiki will go wherever you need healing.
Shamanic healing is a method of healing that looks at any dis-ease and life challenge as interconnected to all that is.
Shamanic healing only works if a person needs help, it’s not like Reiki healing where a person can experience healing even if they don’t necessarily need a healing, it can just be a pleasurable experience to receive, relax and rest.
In Shamanic healing there are a couple of things that may be happening, either there is energy inside a persons body that doesn’t belong to them and needs to be taken out or there is energy outside a person that needs to come back because it belongs to them.
Shamanic healing focuses on how great the persons need is, we look at what the persons Soul is wanting to express in order to make it whole. The persons need helps drive the practitioners energy on that persons behalf.
What also makes Shamanic Healing different from other forms of energetic healing is the journey of the shamanic practitioner. Whenever the shamanic practitioner is working they will go into a trance state so there spirit helpers can work through them on behalf of the person needing help.
During a shamanic healing session I may use a rattle, drum, flute or my voice to call in different spirit healing masters, helpers, ancestors and other aspects needed to complete the journey.

A counselling session will be different for each person. However if you are new to counselling or to my website, it may help to get a sense of the style of counselling I offer and what may occur during a session.
I offer the following paragraphs as navigational tools for you to explore. However, they are not a necessary part of the experience. This time it’s all about you, your needs, desires and wants. I invite you to be a co-creator in the process. Your communication about what you want, desire and need is vital.
The counselling relationship
It’s important to find a counsellor who feels right for you. A positive client-counsellor relationship is a necessary ingredient for a successful outcome. The counselling relationship is usually formed within the first few contacts. A counsellor may have a string of qualifications or be very successful in their field but if the client doesn’t feel comfortable, then it’s not going to be beneficial for the client. As a counsellor my intention is to understand you and get a sense of how it is for you in your world. With awareness and gentleness I step into your world to look at what is meaningful and how your situation presents itself. My counselling process is gentle, client centred, very human but more importantly it’s all about you, your life, dreams, pain, joy, needs and what gives you a sense of meaning and value in the world.
The next layer of counselling to help you explore your life is talking. As you talk, the counsellor, actively engages by listening and asking questions. As you speak about what is happening you, the issues you are dealing with may rise to the surface and we may be able to look at them together. Often speaking can help you become clearer or calmer, knowing that you don’t have to carry a load inside or be alone in your situation. When we truly talk about our lives in depth we can often see our story unfold, and realise how events have shaped our life, beliefs and values. Through a process of speaking we can uncover what belief systems are not serving you. The process of sharing thoughts, feelings and experiences can be powerful, enlightening and liberating.
Allowing emotions to guide
Emotions and feelings are like barometers that guide us to places that need our attention. During a session I may invite you to deepen your experience with an emotion or advise you not go into the emotion until you feel it is safe to do so. Letting emotions flow that have been stuck or pushed down can help to understand why we do the things we do and how we have a choice to change if that is what is requested. You will always work at your own pace and will not be expected to enter an exploration that you are not ready for or feel uncomfortable participating in.
